Wall Panelling in Nottingham

Wall panelling adds character, depth and durability to a room in a way paint alone never can. It protects busy hallways and stairs from knocks, gives bedrooms a tailored finish, and turns a plain wall into a feature.

Craig Smith Joinery designs and installs wall panelling across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including Shaker panelling, wainscoting and dado panelling, tongue and groove, and decorative wood panelling. Each scheme is set out by hand so the panels line up with doors, windows, sockets and stairs.

Wall Panelling Set Out and Fitted by a Joiner

The difference between good and poor panelling is in the setting out. Panels need to be evenly spaced, rails need to line up with windowsills and stair strings, and every edge needs to be scribed to walls that are rarely straight. That’s joinery work, and it’s what makes panelling look built-in rather than stuck on.

Panelling can run at dado height, three-quarter height or full height, in painted MDF or real timber. It’s especially effective in hallways and stairwells, bedrooms behind the bed, dining rooms, home offices and cloakrooms.

Choose Us

Why Choose Joiner-Fitted Panelling

Panelling kits look simple, but uneven walls, skirting heights and stairs quickly show up mistakes. A joiner sets the panelling out around the room, scribes every edge and makes sure the lines are true, so the finished wall looks crisp once it’s painted.

Quality materials and proper fixing also mean the panelling stays put, with no gaps opening at joints and no boards lifting in steamy rooms.

FAQ

Wall Panelling Questions

How long does wall panelling take to fit?

A single feature wall or hallway section often takes one to two days. Larger rooms and staircases take longer. A timescale is given with the quote.

Can panelling go in a bathroom?

Yes. Moisture-resistant boards and suitable paints are used for bathrooms, cloakrooms and utility rooms.

What height should wall panelling be?

Dado height (about a third of the wall) suits hallways and dining rooms, two-thirds height works well in bedrooms, and full height makes a strong feature wall. The right height depends on the room and window positions.

Can you panel up the stairs?

Yes. Staircase panelling is set out to follow the angle of the stairs so the lines run parallel with the string and handrail.

Do you paint the panelling?

Panelling is left filled and ready for decorating. Painting can be arranged on request.

Which areas do you cover?

Wall panelling is installed across Nottingham, West Bridgford, Beeston, Arnold, Carlton, Hucknall, Long Eaton and the surrounding Nottinghamshire villages.
